Alex is an associate with experience acting in complex cross-border shipping, offshore and insurance disputes, including high-value arbitration and court proceedings involving significant technical and jurisdictional issues.

Alex is dual-qualified as a Solicitor of England & Wales and as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana. He advises on complex, high-value and cross-border commercial disputes, with a particular focus on shipping, offshore and insurance matters.

Alex graduated with First Class Honours in his LLB from the University of Cape Coast and obtained an LLM with Distinction from the University of Southampton.

His experience spans a broad range of shipping and international trade disputes, including charterparty, cargo, marine insurance and shipbuilding claims, with experience across LCIA, LMAA and HKIAC arbitration proceedings, as well as proceedings before the English Courts. He regularly works on strategically significant matters involving complex factual, technical and jurisdictional issues.

Alex has played a key role in a number of substantial disputes, including assisting in the defence of insurers in a USD 65 million claim arising out of the detention of the MV Win Win in Indonesia in 2019. He also formed part of the team representing the successful shipyard in LMAA proceedings concerning a technically complex scrubber retrofitting dispute involving two ferries.

In addition to his practice, Alex co-authored the UK chapter of Shipping Law 2025 for the International Comparative Legal Guide (ICLG).
